| Lake Superior, the biggest freshwater body of water by surface area in the world, is becoming more and more associated with surfing, with waves on the open water sometimes reaching 20ft and occasionally 30ft. The surfers of Lake Superior wait long periods of time for rideable waves, with the epic days being driven by wound up storm systems moving over the region. Surfing conditions are usually best in late winter before ice in and early Spring right after ice out. With water temps being near freezing, great care is taken understanding the effects of cold and how to suit up for it- on coldest days with 6/5/4 neoprene wetsuits. |
